What is Wunderbar Alt?

Wunderbar Alt is a GDPR-compliant app that lets family members support their parents' or grandparents' daily life — even from afar. Medications, appointments, wellbeing, hydration and the emergency call come together in one shared interface for seniors, family and helpers. Instead of surveillance: a daily photo and a message that the senior replies to.

Learn more

Wunderbar Alt is a GDPR-compliant app for organizing daily life for older adults — designed above all for family members who want to support their parents or grandparents without always being there in person, whether they live nearby or farther away. The app brings together seniors, family members, everyday companions, cleaners and home helpers in one shared interface. Core features include a medication schedule with intake reminders, appointment management, a daily wellbeing check (green/yellow/red) with family notifications, a hydration reminder, an emergency button, plus shopping and supply lists. So the app never feels like surveillance, family members can send a daily photo and a short message that the senior can reply to. The interface is available in 20 languages (including German, Polish, Ukrainian, Romanian, and Russian), so everyday companions, cleaners and household help can be included without language barriers. Data is stored on servers in the EU (Ireland). Wunderbar Alt is free to use; advanced features are available in two subscription tiers. The app is coming soon to the Google Play Store.

What the app can do

Every feature is tailored to the real needs of seniors and their families.

Always free

Emergency call — country-specific

A large, clearly visible emergency button — always available, no matter the plan. It opens the phone app with the right number for your country of residence: Germany 112, USA 911, UK 999. The call is only made when you tap it yourself.

Well-being check

The senior records their well-being daily — green, yellow or red. From tier 1, family members see the entry; on red, the ones selected for this are notified immediately.

Export all your data

Users can export all their data as a file at any time, in a single step — complete and clearly arranged. Transparency and control, as the GDPR requires.

Tier 1

Well-being alerts & history

If the senior enters red, the family members they have selected for this are notified immediately. The history of the last 90 days can be viewed and exported.

You can save the well-being history as a file or pass it on through your device’s share menu — by email to the doctor’s practice, for example. The app sends nothing on its own. Together with the medication history from Tier 2.

Don't forget to drink

Seniors often forget to drink. The app reminds them daily and shows family members how much was consumed — with a 30-day history.

Tier 1

Personal errands

The senior creates errands — family members see the list and can check off what's done. Simple coordination without a phone call.

Tier 2

Export medication history

You can save the intake history of the last 90 days as a file or pass it on through your device’s share menu — by email to the doctor’s practice, for example. The app sends nothing on its own. That makes appointments easier and helps judge whether the medication works.

Tier 2

Supplies & shopping list

Care supplies, dressings, diapers — keep stock in view and log consumption. For medications too: stock management with a warning before the pack runs out, plus an automatic shopping list.

Coordinate everyday companions, cleaning & home help

Agree on services: Decide together which tasks an everyday companion, a cleaner or a home help takes on — as a clear, recurring agreement.

Visits with check-in & check-out: Every visit is confirmed with a check-in and check-out — the family sees that everything was done.

PDF service record: The services provided and times are compiled into a PDF — as a record of what was done and when.

Messages from the family

Family members send the senior short messages and emoji greetings — right to their phone. They appear large and clear, and can be answered.

Tier 2

Photos from the family

Family members send the senior a photo with a short caption — the grandchild, the holiday, the dog. It appears large on their home screen. Photos are deleted automatically after a short time.

Family is notified when something is missing

If the senior does not confirm a dose, the family members they have selected for this are notified — after 40, 60 or 90 minutes, depending on the setting. Without a selection, no notification is sent. If your life is in danger, always call the emergency number yourself.

Family member

Medication list with reminders for every dose

You enter your medicines once — name, dose, time. At the right moment your phone speaks up, and you confirm with one tap. This is your own list inside the app, not an official document and no substitute for the plan from your doctor.

Who is Wunderbar Alt for?

Language barriers? Bridged.Everyone uses Wunderbar Alt in their own language — Grandpa in German, the Polish cleaner in Polish, the daughter in English. Everyone shares the same entries: relatives can see that everything was taken care of properly for Grandpa.

  • Coordinate appointments

  • Stay in touch with the senior
  • Emergency call always available

Private or through an organization — both work. Everyday companions, cleaners and home helps can be invited directly by a family (private) or connected through an organization for everyday companionship, cleaning or home help. The app supports both ways — role and access stay the same.

The subscription belongs to the senior — everyone benefits.

When a family upgrades, all linked people use the unlocked features immediately. The senior doesn't have to pay — any family member can take over the subscription for them.

Help and frequently asked questions

Where do I find what, how do I set something up, what is a feature for? Pick a section — everything is explained here.

How do I show my family that I'm doing well?
On the home screen, tap green, yellow or red under “Well-being”. One tap is enough, you don’t have to write anything. Family members see the entry from subscription tier 1, as far as you have shared it; on red, the family members you have selected for this are notified immediately.
Where do I enter my medications and confirm that I've taken them?
In the “Medications” tile. It lists your medications and times; after taking them, tap Confirm. That way your family can see that everything was taken.
Where do I see my appointments?
In the “Appointments” tile and as “Next appointment” right on the home screen. Tap “View” to open the appointment in a large view with all the details.
How do I say what needs to be bought?
In the “Errands” tile, enter what's needed. Family members or helpers see the list and can take on the errand.
What is the “Hydration” tile for?
It gently reminds you to drink and shows your family that you've had enough — especially important on hot days.
What does the emergency button do?
The emergency button opens a window with two options. One opens the phone app with your country’s emergency number, the other notifies your family members. Wunderbar Alt is not an emergency service. The call is only made when you tap it yourself, and only the family members selected for emergency alerts are notified — if none are selected, no one is. If your life is in danger, always call the emergency number yourself.
Who can see my data — and how do I control that?
You decide. Under “Linked people” you set for each person individually what they may see (for example appointments yes, medications no). Nothing is visible without your approval.
How do I add someone?
Via “Invite person” you get a code or QR code that the other person enters or scans. The other way round, you accept an invitation via “Accept invitation”.
What is a precautionary guardian?
You can decide early on who may take over managing the app if the worst happens — if you can no longer use it yourself. The person has to agree, and you can change or end it at any time.
Where do I change my language, password or profile?
In Settings (gear icon at the top right): profile, language, plus password and email.
How do I connect with a senior?
Three ways: accept an invitation (code or QR), invite a senior yourself, or “set up a senior together” (you create the account with them). These options appear on your home screen as long as you're not yet connected to anyone.
What can I see about the senior?
Only what they have shared — well-being, medications, appointments, errands, hydration. The senior controls visibility for each person individually.
Where do I find the history?
In the senior’s respective tile. You can view the well-being and medication history, save it as a file and pass it on through the share menu — by email to the doctor’s practice, for example. The app sends nothing on its own.
How do I help with appointments and errands?
Depending on what's been shared, you can help manage appointments and errands — add them, take them on, check them off. That way the family shares the tasks without duplicating work.
What is the “Management” tile for a senior?
It bundles all management features for that particular senior: their settings, the service providers' services and records, and guardianship.
Can I invite a service provider for the senior?
Only the senior themselves or their confirmed guardian may do that — because the senior controls who joins their circle. As a regular family member, you ask the senior or the guardian to do it.
What does “guardianship” mean in the app?
A purely functional takeover of managing the app, not legal guardianship — Wunderbar Alt does not verify any power of attorney. There is the precautionary route (named and agreed in advance) and, if nothing was arranged, a request that requires the circle's approval.
Who pays for the subscription?
The subscription belongs to the senior's account. Family members can take it over — so the cost doesn't fall on the senior. Service providers use the app for free.
How do I get connected with a client?
You send a “Connect with me” invitation or accept an invitation from the senior or a family member. The senior (or their guardian) owns the circle and confirms the connection.
Where do I see my visits?
Your home screen shows a calendar of all visits across all clients. The features for an individual client are in that senior's view.
What does “agree on services” mean?
You define the agreed services with your client; both sides confirm. That makes it clear what is provided and on what terms.
How does the time-stamped record work?
For each visit you check in and check out. The time is stamped and you tick off the services provided — this creates a complete, gap-free service record.
What is the service record for?
It proves to family members and the care insurance fund who did what and when — for example for reimbursement (relief amount) or as a household-related service for tax purposes. The record can be exported.
Does the app cost me anything?
No. For service providers the app is free — the subscription belongs to the senior.
Which roles are there?
For example cleaning, everyday companionship and household help. Your role determines what you see for each client — always only what's needed.
Well-being and check-in
Daily status in green, yellow or red with a 90-day history. On red, the selected family members are notified immediately. The history can be saved as a file and shared.
Medication plan
Store medications and intake times, confirm doses, view the history. The stock warning before a pack runs out is part of Tier 2.
Appointments
A shared calendar with reminders and a large detail view; the next appointment is shown right on the home screen.
Errands and shopping lists
Enter what's needed and see who takes on which errand — no paper notes, no duplicate purchases.
Hydration
A gentle drinking reminder; the family can see that enough was consumed.
Emergency call
Opens the phone app with the country's emergency number (112 and others). Not a medical device. Wunderbar Alt is not an emergency service. The call is only made when you tap it yourself, and only the family members selected for emergency alerts are notified — if none are selected, no one is.
Roles and permissions
The senior controls who sees what, for each person individually. Every role sees only its own slice — privacy on equal terms.
Histories
Well-being, medications and other histories can be viewed and shared as a summary, for example for the doctor.
Service provider records
Check-in and check-out per visit with a time stamp, ticked-off service items, and an exportable service record for the care insurance fund and taxes.
Invitations
Invite people by code or QR, or accept invitations — including an overview of pending invitations in the app.
Precaution and guardianship
Name a fallback early on who takes over management if the worst happens — functional, with consent, revocable at any time.
Guide
Easy-to-understand help articles on care, health and everyday life — filtered by role and country, so you only see what's relevant.
20 languages
The interface is available in 20 languages (including German, English, Polish, Ukrainian, Romanian and Russian) — everyone in the circle of helpers uses their own language.
Privacy
Servers in the EU, no tracking, no ads, no selling of data. Data-minimal, including for visits.
Pricing
Free to use; two subscription tiers (€9.99 and €14.99 per month) unlock advanced features, billed through the Google Play Store.
